about

Sonnet #8 of 24 from Saturday Night Sonnets (2007)
Written in a waltz style about the reality of specious social structures, particularly the divide & conquer mandates, and the level of time where all is equal in the end.

lyrics

The hypocrisy of a ruling class
with false dominion over others lives
pursuing happiness just to kiss ass
thieves with their spoils to poison your wives
Sophisticate crooks building large castles
then to reside in the shadows of fear
with pompous ritual ties and tassels
liars all uncommonly cavalier
Few decide ownership of laws and land
what’s best for the masses is tough to chew
an absence of balance follows demand
taking good hearts devils cleave them in two

When the grass grows tall on that playing field
We’ll meet on the level before we’ll yield
